Granum Families Vote in Favor of 4-Day School Week

Granum families have voted in favor of a 4-day school week. Based on the results of a vote, Granum School will proceed with a 4-day school week beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.

Eighteen ballots were returned by the March 18 deadline, with the following results:

  • 9 votes: We support a 4-day school week at Granum School
  • 8 votes: We support a 4-day school week if childcare is available
  • 1 vote: We do not support a 4-day school week

The combined 17 votes in support of a 4-day school week represent 94.4% of responses.

In a childcare survey that went out to Granum School families in early March,  the results show a strong interest in childcare options in the community. Of the 24 respondents, a majority would access childcare:

  • 66.7% would access childcare for 0-5 year olds
  • 69.2% would access before-school childcare for 5-12 year olds
  • 92.3% would access after-school childcare for 5-12 year olds
  • 77.8% would access Friday childcare for 5-12 year olds

Livingstone Range School Division continues to work with childcare providers to create childcare solutions beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. More information will be shared with Granum School Parent Council by mid-April.

We thank all those who participated in our stakeholder engagement sessions, survey, and this vote. Your valuable input is shaping the future of Granum School in the best interest of 'Every student, every day.'
